In spite of the neighboring Mt. Joy Twilight concert on Library Square, the Salt Lake City Council convened on Tuesday evening to discuss and adopt new regulations and fines for “extreme” partying.
Several members of the East Central Community—including Neighborhood Council chairperson Esther Hunter and former SLC mayor Rocky Anderson—voiced support for changes to city code to crack down on unruly gatherings near the University of Utah.
A unanimously-passed ordinance will create new fines and civil enforcement for repeated violations, just in time for the start of the University of Utah fall semester.
Party Hard
The Council voted to approve an amendment to city code regarding parties, which are defined as gatherings with three or more people. The code will now allow for civil and crimi
