HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The City of Huntsville unveiled preliminary plans for the renovation of Goldsmith-Schiffman Field during a public meeting on Tuesday.

The project includes two new flag football fields, a playground with a rubberized surface, a pavilion with restrooms, and two pickleball courts. Plans also call for a walking trail with benches, grassy play mounds for children, and abundant shaded areas.

City officials intend to remove portions of the stone wall surrounding the park, citing safety concerns and flood risks. Huntsville City Council Member David Little described the updates as “long overdue.”

Additional improvements will include new lighting, expanded parking, ADA-accessible parking, and upgraded accessibility features throughout the park.
