WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Long-time assistant football coach Tom Unger was named interim head coach for the West Haven High School football team on Wednesday.
The West Haven HS athletic department announced the decision one day after Rich Boshea resigned as head coach, a position he held since 2015.
Unger joined the Blue Devils coaching staff in 2015, when he also became a math teacher at the high school. He also is the head of strength and conditioning for all the high school athletics teams.
“I’m excited to work with a group of young, hungry players who are ready to step up and build on the success of their teammates over the past two years,” Unger said in a statement.
