MARSHALL, Texas (KETK) -- A Carthage man was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Tuesday after pleading guilty to a manslaughter charge in the case of a 2023 shooting that left one man dead in Marshall.

On March 16, 2023, officials with the Marshall Police Department arrived at the 2100 block of Randolph Street, where they found Adrian Rashad Ward with a gunshot wound in his abdomen. Ward was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Johnathan Antione Reeves was arrested the same day and placed into the Harrison County Jail. Reeves was originally booked on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, which was later changed to murder.
