TYLER, Texas (KETK)-- With the East Texas State Fair quickly approaching, they have announced they will be adding mutton bustin to this year's lineup, giving young cowboys and cowgirls the opportunity to participate in the rodeo.

Registration to participate in mutton bustin is now open and will remain open until Aug. 31. To enter, participants must be four to seven years old and weigh less than 60 pounds. During the event, participants must wear: • Long pants • Long-sleeved shirt • Closed-toed shoes • A helmet provided by the Mutton Bustin' Committee

The rodeo will be held from Sept. 19-21 in the Herd Arena. During the mutton busting competition, contestants will ride a sheep out of the chute, aiming to stay on for as long as possible while the crowd cheers them on.
