FORT WORTH, Texas — A Fort Worth pastor's dream of building a new church has been put on hold after thieves stole more than $200,000 worth of construction materials from his property.

Brian Fisher, pastor of Longvue Avenue Baptist Church, discovered Saturday that thieves had broken into his lot off Old Weatherford Road in west Fort Worth and taken nearly all the materials for his congregation's new building.

"We scrapped and saved" to buy the new church, Fisher said.

The building came disassembled, and a year ago multiple trucks and trailers hauled its parts to his plot of land. They’ve waited to assemble the building until they got the green light from the city of Fort Worth.

Items stolen include massive, heavy pieces of siding and building materials that had been stored in containers
