The former Tyson chicken plant in Hanover County has sold to a developer after sitting dormant for more than two years.

The $5 million sale was announced by Cushman & Wakefield — Thalhimer, who negotiated on behalf of Tyson. The land at 13264 Mountain Road is about 53 acres, and the facility is 208,000 square feet.

The land was bought by Tyler McCormick, who founded a trucking company based in Henrico County called Sweetie Boy Transportation.

McCormick plans to sell or lease the property to its ultimate user. He said the final use of the property is yet to be determined, but that he’s had several conversations with interested parties.
