The Alberta Forest Products Association (AFPA) welcomed recently announced federal support for the forestry industry, but also called for a new softwood lumber deal in early August. Article content

“These actions by the United States are a serious threat to nearly 40,000 forestry related jobs in Alberta alone,” Viersen said in a statement.

Viersen said that the increased duties could impact companies in his riding, including Milar Western and Blue Ridge Lumber.
