LEXINGTON, Ky. — Thousands of kids in Lexington are back in school. Fayette County Public Schools, the second-largest district in Kentucky, began classes Wednesday.
Stonewall Elementary’s first day saw a variety of emotions from students and staff.
Brooklyn Evans teaches third grade at the school in south Lexington. She said every year and every first day is different.
“We always read a book called ‘First Day Jitters’ and I think it’s the most accurate to say it’s a little jittery, a little excited, a little mix of everything,” Evans said.
It’s Evans’ seventh year at Stonewall Elementary.
“I feel like third grade is the sweet spot; they’re still sweet, they’re independent, they’re so fun, they always have a story they’re willing to share so it’s never a dull moment down here,” Evans
