MASON, Mich. (WILX) - The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office will be taking over the county’s 911 operation center, Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth announced on Wednesday.

The decision was made alongside the County Controller’s Office and Board of Commissioners.

The Controller contacted Wriggelsworth two weeks ago regarding leading 911 operations after the current director signaled they may resign.

Currently, the 911 Director reports to the County Controller.

In a statement, Wriggelsworth said:

“While I have not committed to leading the 911 Center on a long term basis, I have committed to leading the Center on an interim basis, while doing a deep dive into the operation to see how we can make things better in the future.
