HAVANA, Fla. (WKRG) — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has approved rules for black bear hunting.
According to a release from the FWC, the new rules will go into effect during the 2025 hunting season.
Bear Hunting Zones will be established in four of the existing seven Bear Management Units. One hundred eighty-seven permits will be issued across the East Panhandle, North, Central, and South BMUs.
Each permit, distributed through a random drawing, allows the harvest of one bear within the assigned zone. Applications for permits are $5 and can be submitted by those 18 years old or older as many times as they want.
According to the release, regulated hunting will manage population growth rates of black bears.
