WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Anxiety and frustration. That’s what Watertown families, hoping to get their children and grandchildren into Universal Pre-K, are feeling with only a few weeks left before school starts.

It comes after the Watertown City School District changed how the program is run.

Before Watertown students get their start here at Sherman Elementary, they can go to Universal Pre-K.

“It was a great start. It helped them out socially,” said Stephanie Davis, a grandmother.

But with just weeks left before school starts, families are searching for answers, wondering if their kid will be enrolled, and where the classes will be.

Here’s what has changed: For years, the Watertown City School District hired community-based partners to run its UPK program.
