Alien: Earth has finally landed, with the first two episodes released this week on Disney+ and FX on Hulu for those in the US. Fans of the franchise are keen to see how it compares to previous instalments.

With impressive production values, a stellar cast of both established actors and fresh faces, and Fargo's Noah Hawley at the helm, all the elements are in place for this prequel to be a roaring success.

As a massive fan of the Alien franchise myself, having watched the initial two films multiple times and even had the opportunity to see Ridley Scott's 1979 classic on the big screen, I'm excited about this new addition.

I even have a soft spot for the often-criticised prequel Prometheus, which I've seen around five times - such is my love for this gruesome, enigmatic sci-fi epic.
