Over the better part of six decades, the Arizona State Sun Devils have called Camp Tontozona home for a short period prior to the upcoming football season.
It’s a small valley tucked away north of Payson where the pine trees whisper in the wind, the air is crisp and the nights are cool.
And more times than not, the players realize Arizona is much more than an arid desert.
For Carston Kieffer, it’s a place that brings back childhood memories. Before he was the Sun Devil’s home-grown place kicker, he was a Devilback partaking in practice drills, scrimmages, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and talent shows on the same field.
