A Canadian appeals court has upheld a ruling that Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) must pay compensation to the families of those killed in the downing of Flight 752 in Iran on January 8, 2020. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, was shot down by two Iranian surface-to-air missiles just minutes after takeoff from Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran. All 176 people on board, including 167 passengers and 9 crew, were killed in the incident.

The appeals court dismissed UIA's bid to overturn a 2024 ruling in which Ontario's Superior Court of Justice found UIA negligent in allowing Flight 752 to take off from Tehran.
