GARY — Authorities on Wednesday arrested an 18-year-old man suspected of killing a 19-year-old following a July 8 deadly confrontation where a marijuana deal turned violent, according to the Hobart Police Department.

Jordan Carl Meekins was charged July 17 with murder and murder in perpetration of robbery of Tristan Tomak-Trevino.

Hobart police had earlier said they responded around 5 p.m. July 8 to a report of shots fired outside the Haven Apartments in the 300 block of Ruta Drive in Hobart.

Tomak-Trevino, 19, of South Haven, was found dead at the scene, while an 18-year-old Hobart man sustained a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
