The Mississippi Attorney General's Office is seeking information in its investigation of a former University of Mississippi Medical Center children's doctor who was indicted on multiple sex-related charges.
According to a statement issued by Attorney General Lynn Fitch's Office, Dr. Mehul Dixit was indicted Aug. 11 by a Hinds County Grand Jury on 13 counts of gratification of lust of a vulnerable person and 12 counts of sexual battery of a vulnerable person.
Dixit is a former pediatric nephrologist — specialist in children's kidney diseases — at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
The charges, according to the press release, stemmed from clinical visits that occurred between 2013 and 2023, following allegations that Dixit fondled teenage patients.
