LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — In Luzerne County’s Back Mountain, Humphrey’s Children’s Toys and Apparel has been a holiday shopping destination for 53 years, a place where generations have come for toys, clothing, and a bit of Christmas spirit.

“We love to be little elves here. We wrap everybody’s presents and get everything ready. We help people pick out everything personally, based on the different ages and their little personalities,” said Janet Lozo, Humphrey’s owner.

It’s Humphrey’s busiest stretch of the year, first back-to-school shoppers, then rolling right into the holiday hustle. But this year, the shelves are stocked before the big gift-buying season.

“A little bit extra inventory right now because we’re ordering early,” said Lozo.
