The Anne Arundel County Police Department released data Wednesday morning that highlighted a major drop in crime in the county over the last year.
Figures released by the department showed a 14% decrease in homicides and a 42% drop in shootings. Robberies also saw a massive decrease, with carjackings down 57%, robberies of citizens decreased by 46% and commercial robberies dropped to 50%.
Officials said proactive policing, strong community partnerships and the effective use of technology are behind the drop in crime.
