A pedestrian is dead after a collision on Highway 404 southbound near Woodbine Avenue and Queensville Sideroad in East Gwillimbury.

Ontario provincial police say they were called about the crash at 12:30 pm, and that the pedestrian was hit by a tractor trailer.

Police have closed the southbound section of the highway while they investigate. They are encouraging the public to avoid the area and to expect delays.

No details about the driver or victim have been released.
