SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, PENNSYLVANIA —Two international squads got the 2025 Little League World Series underway on Wednesday afternoon, as Venezuela blanked Puerto Rico, 5-0, in a marquee opening matchup between two perennial international baseball powers.

The Latin America Region champions—who finished third in last year’s LLWS—once again showed they have the poise and skill to contend deep into the tournament; while the squad from Barquisimeto managed just one more hit than Puerto Rico’s four, it was their knack for timely hitting and a dominant pitching performance that made the difference.
