SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Somali national charged in 2019 with kidnapping a 4-year-old girl and the subsequent death of her mother is scheduled for a change of plea hearing Aug. 22 in U.S. District Court in Springfield.

Mahamud Tooxoow Mahamed, 40, who was a permanent resident alien in the United States, was charged in May 2024 in a three-count superseding indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Springfield with one count of kidnapping resulting in death, one count of stalking resulting in death and one count of kidnapping a minor. ×
