Drivers who travel through West Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley along the 405 Freeway will be recommended to allocate extra time as a couple of freeway lanes will be closed in both directions over the next five months.

Starting Friday, Aug. 22, only three lanes will be open on both northbound and southbound 405 between Victory Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard with the lane reductions lasting for 55 hours.

The closures will begin on Friday at 10 p.m. and end on Monday at 5 a.m. as Caltrans crews repave the lanes and replace sign structures while upgrading guardrail and curb ramps. And the project will last for 25 weekends.
