The 2024 football season didn’t end well for Francis Parker.

The team started 4-3 before losing four in a row, including a 32-17 defeat to Coronado in the playoffs.

This season was certainly going to be a rebuild season for coach DJ Walcott.

No one outside of Parker officials, however, saw this coming.

The Lancers’ roster shrunk down to 27 players, then 20. Athletic director Mahina Hannemann-Gago said the team is down to 14 players as it prepares for the start of the 2025 season. There are no seniors on the roster. The team’s only junior is Deuce Walcott, the coach’s son.

So two weeks ago, school officials announced the Lancers were dropping from 11-man football to 8-man. The announcement sent shockwaves through the football community, forcing the nine teams on Parker’s 11-man schedul
