MADISON, Ala. - On Wednesday Madison City Schools hosted their annual back-to-school breakfast, spotlighting the district's significant growth and future challenges. The district has seen a remarkable 123 percent increase in student enrollment over the last 25 years, said Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols.
Nichols highlighted that the district has grown from about 5,000 students in 1998 to more than 13,000 today. By 2030, the district expects enrollment to exceed 15,000 students. Despite this rapid growth, Madison City Schools remains one of the top academic districts in Alabama.
