GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The Downtown Cat, a cat cafe located inside Dog Dynasty Grooming and Boarding, had its grand opening on Saturday.

Owner Tosha Long says the opening was a huge success.

"The community really showed out. I think we had over 2,000 people show up for the grand opening. We had a line out the door for 4 hours and it was complete chaos in the best way possible."

Long says she had the idea to open the cafe after visiting one in Denver this past January.

"I had this space where I'd already been doing cat boarding and cat grooming and just had my little kitty empire, I have my catnip dispensary, and so I just thought that the cat cafe would fit in just perfectly."

She says the cafe currently has about 20 cats.
