A quarterback, by nature, has to be a leader of a football team. The director of the huddle, the man with the football in his hands every single snap, and in most cases the face of the franchise, a quarterback always has a bevy of responsibilities that extend beyond making plays on the football field.

And so, as Drake Maye enters his second year in the NFL and first year as a Week 1 starter, the not-quite-23-year-old will be expected to fulfill certain leadership roles for a Patriots franchise that hopes to be in transition in 2025.

That's something that head coach Mike Vrabel explicitly stated that he wants to see grow with Maye this year.

"Well, it's not that it's lacking. I just -- I always want more," Vrabel
