Quinte West has signed onto the Elect Respect pledge, as part of an effort to promote healthier discourse in municipal politics.

Council briefly discussed the pledge during Wednesday’s council meeting.

The Elect Respect pledge calls on municipal councils to commit to treat others with respect in all spaces—public, private, and online, reject and call out harassment, abuse, and personal attacks, while focusing debate on ideas and policies.

Prince Edward County has previously adopted the same pledge.

The motion was approved without debate.
