DALLAS — George Harris, who, along with his late partner, Jack Evans, was among the first same-sex couples to be married in Dallas County, died Wednesday, Resource Center CEO Cece Cox confirmed.

Harris was 92 years old.

Evans and Harris were trailblazers in the city's LGBTQ community. Known simply as "Jack and George," they ran a successful real estate business and founded what later became the North Texas LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce.

After retirement, they began working to catalog the history of the Dallas LGBTQ community, which led to the founding of The Dallas Way and vast repository of stories at the GLBT archives at the University of North Texas.

But the life the couple built together was the achievement Harris was most proud of.
