There is growing debate and concern over minors being charged as adults in Alameda County courts.

The Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission claims a growing number of children are facing adult prison. Commission members worry that could be creating career criminals.

"Young people who are transferred to the adult system are almost 40% more likely to commit another violent crime as opposed to if they stayed in the juvenile system," Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission Chair Vamsey Palagummi said.
