FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Indiana House Democrats joined Texas state representatives on Wednesday at a press conference in Chicago to oppose redistricting efforts by Republicans in both states.
The meeting follows Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s recent announcement about his intent to call a second special session to further gerrymander the state’s congressional maps as well as Vice President J.D. Vance’s recent visit with Indiana GOP leadership on redistricting .
A statement from Indiana Democratic Chair, Karen Tallian, reads in part:
“This is a clear power grab by a Republican Party that knows it can’t win the next election without changing the rules."
