BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. —

Former Blount County Deputy Joseph Ray Snow has been found guilty of second-degree assault and failure of duty after attacking an inmate, according to the district attorney's office.

The incident, captured on security cameras, occurred over two years ago when Jonathan Calloway was arrested for public intoxication.

Prosecutors said it wasn't until the inmate made a crude gesture with his hand that Snow grabbed him and hit the inmate's head against the wall. The fight then escalated when Snow threw a chair across the room, came back over to the inmate, and kicked him in the face. The inmate's teeth were knocked out, and he had a broken nose. Snow is set to be sentenced on October 21.
