CORAL GABLES — Bryce Fitzgerald arrived at UM as scheduled — which meant he was late.

All the other members of the Hurricanes’ 2025 high school recruiting class arrived in time for spring football, but Fitzgerald did not enroll until summer, which is the traditional time freshmen start their college tenure.

“I feel like I have a lot to prove,” Fitzgerald said. “A lot of people were waiting to see what I can do. So I’m ready to showcase my talent.”

Fitzgerald, a former four-star prospect out of Miami Columbus High, is making a strong impression early in his first set of practices with the Hurricanes. But he is not the only young safety who is performing well this fall.

Sophomore Dylan Day, who played sparingly in 2024, is also showing his ability in camp this year.
