Neighborhood Food Network cites deficit, seeks donations
The Rev. Roger Reece, executive pastor of Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County, on Wednesday issued an urgent call for help.
“We are facing a critical funding challenge that threatens the stability of our emergency food distribution through our Neighborhood Food Network, which serves 21 pantries throughout Fort Wayne and Allen County,” he said through email. “Due to federal budget sequestration, our anticipated support from FEMA and the Emergency Food Assistance Program has been indefinitely delayed, creating a projected $45,000 deficit in our 2025 food bank budget.”
The shortfall comes at a time when the community’s needs are escalating, Reece wrote, citing cuts to Medicaid and SNAP benefits
