Tenants of a South Baltimore apartment development sued the owner and property management company over claims of living in dangerous and unsafe conditions.

The tenants said they are frustrated and decided to file the lawsuit for accountability and for safe homes.

The historic Sharp Leadenhall Tenant Council announced the lawsuit just down the street from where they live.

“To call out this landlord for being unlicensed and retaliatory,” said Lawrence Horton, the council’s president.

Some said they fear intimidation and retaliation, and they’ve already been threatened with eviction for speaking out about dangerous conditions.

“When you put a work order in, it should get done. I don’t care if it takes a week, but it should get done. It should not be ignored,” said Michael Fonce, a tenant
