A woman was shot Wednesday evening in Carver, Massachusetts, prompting a police search.

The victim, a 28-year-old woman police said formerly lived in the town, walked into the Carver Police Department shortly after 7:30 p.m., telling officers she had been shot at Sampson Pond, about three miles away.

She had what appeared to be a gunshot wound to her leg, police said. She was transported to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, and her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
