SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Office of Homeless Services released its annual report Wednesday on Utah’s homelessness institutions and the number of unhoused individuals across the state.
The number of people in shelters, transitional housing and on the streets of Utah rose this year compared to last, according to Homeless Services. But State Homeless Coordinator Wayne Niederhauser said the data tells a more complex story.
“ While most people still resolve their homelessness quickly with shelter and support, we’re seeing growing needs, especially among seniors, veterans, and first-time shelter residents,” Niederhauser said in the office’s report.
