When asked about crime in New Haven, Idelmaro Andrade felt it was in a decent position, pointing out recent shootings, but also how often things like that happen.
“I don’t think that I personally have run into that much violence, so I would say that it’s down currently,” Andrade said.

Recent police data released Wednesday shows crime is down in nearly every category, some are even near a 10-year low.
“With the exception of homicides, where we have the same number as last year, shootings are at a record low, and shots fired are at a record low,” Mayor Justin Elicker said at a news conference discussing crime stats.
