ESTANCIA, N.M. —

Residents of Estancia are being asked to boil and conserve water following the installation of a new water well.

The boil water notice is due to recent repairs. The request to conserve water is to allow the tank to refill and repressurize the town's system through the weekend.

The new water well was installed and operational around 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, according to the town of Estancia.

Bottled water pickup will continue for Estancia water customers at the Estancia Fire Department at 1001 East Highland Avenue.

The town is scheduled to release a full statement regarding the water well issue by the end of this week. The town said it will include a draft of a plan to address the issue and steps already take
