PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Pharr man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for sexual assault, Criminal District Attorney Toribio "Terry" Palacios announced.

Jose Roberto Aguilar was found guilty of sexual assault after the victim, law enforcement officers, medical, and scientific professionals gave testimony, according to the news release. Aguilar's trial lasted four days, and the news release says that Aguilar agreed to a 35-year prison sentence in exchange for waiving his right to have the jury determine his punishment.

"Mr. Aguilar also waived his right to appeal and to file a motion for a new trial," the news release states.
