Red Wings' Hall of Famer's son retires from NHL
He was part of the sixth father-son duo in Detroit Red Wings history.
But now, the son of a hockey Hall of Famer is hanging up his skates.
Jake Chelios announced his retirement from professional hockey on Wednesday, according to the NHL Alumni Association .
He's the son of the legendary Chris, one of the best defenseman in NHL history.
Jake was a Michigan State Spartan collegiately before joining the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL.
With Toledo, Jake and his brother Dean played together.
From there, Jake signed with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL.
Jake signed with the Red Wings on July 1, 2018, a chance to follow in his dad's footsteps.
He made his NHL debut on March 29, 2019 and played in five regular season game
