Most Treasure Valley school districts are back in session as of this week, and for Caldwell, the ringing of the first bell on Aug. 13 will soon be followed by the opening of a new resource for its students.

A former girls’ locker room at Wilson Elementary has been repurposed into a food pantry to serve the district’s pupils and their families, with its first “shopping” day to take place Wednesday, Aug. 20.

“We have groceries. We also have personal hygiene items and household items like paper towels and bathroom tissue paper,” Wilson’s Community Schools Coordinator, Annette Perez, said. “You’ll be able to come in, get a reusable bag, and be able to get some groceries every time you visit.”
