It's almost a year since Fontaines D.C. announced a huge summer concert at Manchester's Wythenshawe Park. But this Friday night, the Irish band will perform their biggest-ever Manchester headline show at the park.
In a relatively short amount of time, the Irish outfit have gone from post-punk upstarts on their 2018 debut, Dogrel, to indie rockers with literary aspirations on follow-ups A Hero’s Death (2020) and Skinty Fia (2022).
Last August, their fourth album, Romance, garnered them Grammy nominations and propelled them to huge outdoor shows, one of which is at the 26,000-capacity Wythenshawe Park this weekend.
Live From Wythenshawe Park has been running for a few years now, and last year saw a double-header weekend with Blossoms and New Order on the bill over the August Bank Holi
