A man aged 81 has become one of Britain's oldest convicted drug drivers.
Arthur Ball, who has hearing aids, uses two walking sticks and has had a carer for 15 years, was stopped by police in his mobility car as he drove home after celebrating his birthday. He later tested three times over the limit for cocaine.
When quizzed, the OAP said he had not been drinking alcohol and had never taken drugs. He claimed a fellow guest at the celebration must have slipped cocaine into his lemonade, a court heard.
Magistrates were told that bizarrely, his taxpayer-funded car, a Toyota Yaris, had a police marker on it amid claims it was being used by a drug dealer.
At Warrington magistrates court, Ball pleaded guilty to drug driving and was fined £120. He was also banned from the roads for 12 months.
