Experts are demanding a new ‘maximum driving age’ which could see over-80s banned from roads. Currently, there's no law in the UK that says when road users have to give up their driving licence.
Instead, individuals are expected to give up their permit when they no longer feel safe to drive, the Express reports .
It comes after it was announced drivers over the age of 70 could be required to undergo new capability tests as part of the Government's proposed overhaul of road safety legislation.
However, officials are not believed to be looking into a maximum cut-off point for licences, with campaigners believing this was the best way forward.
