SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - A company is sending out emails to pet owners stating their pet’s microchip registration has expired. The company claims it’ll update it for a price. Our viewer Abby wants to know: Do microchip registrations expire?
It’s quick and could make a difference if your dog is lost. Veterinarians can insert a tiny computer chip just under your pet’s skin. It will hold your name, address, and phone number.
And, places like the Humane Society even hold microchip clinics.
“Microchips are designed to last a lifetime,” explained McKenzie Palmer of the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri. “So no, they do not expire, so you should only need to get a one-time microchip, and then you’re covered for life.”
So, it caught a viewer’s attention when she got an unsolicited email
