ATLANTA — This weekend’s Atlanta’s Finest 5K will be more than just a race. It’s a chance for the community to honor DeKalb County Police Officer David Rose, who was killed in the line of duty on Friday, August 8, near the CDC and Emory University.

Organized by the Atlanta Track Club and the Atlanta Police Foundation, the race will take place Saturday, August 16, at Pemberton Place in downtown Atlanta.

All registration proceeds will go toward an education fund for Rose’s three children. He leaves behind a wife, two children and one on the way.

"We want to thank Officer Rose for his service and show his family that Atlanta stands with them," said race organizers.
