Season 27 of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” premieres on NBC on Thursday, September 25, but some cast members aren’t returning to the police procedural.

Juliana Aidén Martinez , who played detective Kate Silva on season 26, and Octavio Pisano , who played detective Joe Velasco from seasons 23-26, won’t be back as series regulars for season 27. Pisano will appear in the season premiere as his character’s story line wraps up.

While Martinez and Pisano’s time on “SVU” is drawing to a close, one of the show’s most beloved stars is making a comeback. Kelli Giddish , who plays Amanda Rollins, is returning to season 27 as a series regular.
