The iconic stars of Knots Landing are finally speaking out about one of primetime television's most controversial character departures - and their revelations are heartbreaking.

Joan Van Ark , Michele Lee and Donna Mills recently reunited at the Southfork Experience for a panel discussion about their beloved soap opera, where they opened up about the exit of co-star Constance McCashin that left the entire cast reeling.

When asked about the moment McCashin's character Laura Avery Sumner was written out after eight years on the show in 1987, Mills, 84, revealed an unexpected behind-the-scenes story.
