CUMBERLAND – The owner of Ani’s Pizza and Seafood and the building it operated in at 1182 High St. has been cited for completing construction without a permit.

Building Official Lawrence Enright confirmed the citation, saying he was made aware of issues when the Police Department responded last month to a complaint about the part-owner of Ani’s, Assad Awan.

As previously reported, Awan was arrested trying to leave the country from JFK International Airport. He was wanted by the Cumberland Police Department at the time on an arrest warrant for two counts of first-degree domestic sexual assault, two counts of domestic assault by strangulation, two counts of domestic simple assault/battery, and two counts of domestic disorderly conduct, according to a news release at the time.
